Is Mac Better Than The PC?
Here Is What I Think.
I believe that the Mac is better than the PC for a number of reasons.
Apple's end-to-end integration and control of hardware and software allows a seamless connection with a variety of portable Apple devices. This integration also allows for simplicity of operation.
The PC's open system allows software to be used on many different manufacture's hardware and operating systems so it is customizable. But I think that the open system leads to more complicated operation of the devices and "bugs" in the software.
As of September 2011 there were 246 Apple stores in the US and 23 in Canada. Although there are much fewer stores that sell Apple products than stores that sell PCs, all of the Mac line of computers and other Apple devices are available for purchase online.
The price point of Apple computers is higher than for PCs. But, their software is significantly less costly than Windows software. For example the Apple iWorks, which has a word processor, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and presentation software for one user and one Mac is only $79.00. The Microsoft Office Suite for one PC that includes Publisher is $349.99.
Certainly, if you are interested in using a computer in the fields of art and graphics, I believe the Mac excels in this area over the PC.
Recent Personal Experience
Since originally writing this Lens, I have purchased a 21.5 inch iMAC and am learning the OS X Mavericks system.
My personal experience has strengthened my opinion given earlier. I find the iMAC to be more intuitive than Windows and easier to communicate documents to others. The number of applications available in the Ap Store and on-line are unbelievable. The few I have downloaded to-date have been great quality and easy to use. I have found Apple's support to be superior to anything previously experienced. Help is just a phone call away or a short trip to the Apple Store.
